| Traditional Italian majolica uses a final thin coating of transparent glaze called coperta to add a layer of brilliance and shine to the surface. This is after all the decorative brush work has been completed. | ||||||||||||||||||
| This stage in not necessary, but often is very helpful if any of the following
conditions exist: Pin-holing in the white glaze surface White glaze not shiny enough Some of the majolica colors (because of the high refractory of the oxides used to make the colors) are dryer looking than others. |
